Mechanochemically Assisted Synthesis of Cu–Ag Microflakes

In this work, a simple, inexpensive, and eco-friendly synthesis method of Cu−Ag microflakes has been developed. Firstly, Cu nanoparticles were synthesized by the reduction copper nitrate in ethylene glycol at 180 °C presence NaOH. The as-synthesized powder was then dispersed mixture ethyl alcohol dispersant followed mechanochemical treatment dispersion ball mill resulting formation flakes approximately 0.2 μm thick 2.7 lateral size. Next, adding AgNO3 dissolved H2O into particle dispersion, bimetallic prepared. particles so prepared investigated X-ray phase analysis electron microscopy. It shown that also flake-like shape similar size to original microflakes. effect conditions, including parameters processing, on thickness, size, uniformity studied. results obtained study compared with those wet chemical alone. Cu–Ag are supposed be used manufacture conductive pastes, adhesives, composites for printed electronics.
